Nerdbuilding’s Alchemy Generator is a 180+ page compendium, filled with hundreds of ingredients and potion effects, which you can use to create over 400,000 custom potions, concoctions, or poisons.


The ingredients are split into 4 categories; Bases, Catalysts, Reagents, and Poisons. Every single ingredient is tied to one of 10 basic environments. Whether your players are in a jungle paradise, or traversing the highest peaks. Whether they are wandering in a hostile desert or sailing over the deepest oceans, our book has ingredients to be found in every location. 

Over 500 Ingredients and 200 Effects.


Potions:

Potions are the primary focus of the generator, and with over 100 primary potion effects, you will have more than ample opportunity to create a potion that enhances your playstyle.
Potions are made by combining a Base with a Catalyst and then adding a Reagent.

Concoctions:

Concoctions are the simplest form of alchemical products that can be made with this generator. Concoctions have over 100 minor effects that can be used, on their own, by combining a Base and a Catalyst. These are very weak effects that are more suited for roleplay purposes, or as cheap versions of the more complicated and expensive potions.

Poisons:

Poisons are the most dangerous of all the possible outcomes, but also the most customizable. Poisons can be used independently, or combined with Bases and Catalysts to create a truly diabolical outcome. Imagine creating a poison that tastes sweet and gives the imbiber a sense of elation as it shuts down their internal organs over the course of a week.

There is no wrong way to combine ingredients.

The Bases:

These ingredients are the base ingredient of every potion and concoction. They are usually the easiest ingredients to find and collect. The Bases will dictate how to best apply the potion, concoction or poison, by identifying if it is best applied through ingestion, topically, or inhalation. Every single one of the more than 100 base ingredients will include physical attributes, such as viscosity, aroma, and taste to help with roleplaying. 

The Catalysts:

Arguably one of the most important ingredients for any alchemist to use. The catalyst will have many different possible effects on the end product, depending on which base ingredient is used. The catalyst can also affect how fast the potion takes effect, or how long the effects last.
Catalysts are the primary ingredient for concoctions, needing only to be combined with a base ingredient to determine just what it is capable of doing. With over 100 catalysts, combining over 200 effects and modifiers, you can mix and match to your heart’s desire.

The Reagents:

Reagents are the most powerful of all the ingredients. They must be gathered and prepared before they can be added to a potion, but the extra work is guaranteed to be worth it. Each Reagent will require the alchemist to pass skill checks according to how difficult it is to incorporate into a potion. With 200 different reagents scattered through the different environments, you are sure to find something that will be useful to your current adventure.

The Poisons:

Poisonous ingredients are exactly what they sound like. They can be used on their own, or combined with bases and catalysts to create super special poisons usable in very specific situations. With 100 different poisonous ingredients to choose from, all of which have different symptoms and levels of severity, there is almost no limit to their uses.

Each environment has it's own collection of ingredients.


Environments:

The book is divided into 10 different environments. From icy cold polar regions, to scorched deserts, from expansive oceans and grasslands to suffocating rainforests. No matter where your character, or your player's characters, are currently adventuring, you are sure to find a myriad of ingredients to use in your next alchemical endeavors. 

What is Nerdbuilding?

We are a very small team of nerds who have a dream of elevating random generators to the next level, for gamers and worldbuilders alike. We do not use AI, we prefer to spend the extra time to create custom coded logic trees that will ensure our generations provide what is possible, not what is most likely.

Who is Nerdbuilding?

As previously mentioned, we form a small but dedicated team. Our unique connection began over 10 years ago in 2011, forged amidst the virtual realms of World of Warcraft. From that point forward, we've tackled numerous projects together, continuously learning and adapting in response to various challenges. The venture we are currently immersed in, Nerdbuilding, is the fruit of these years of exploration and determination. We started this project in 2021 and, since then, have devoted our efforts to evolve and refine our ideas. In the heart of our team, there's a skilled coder and a resilient veteran, both of whom display unyielding spirit in the face of their personal hurdles - she copes with blindness, and he with a disability sustained during his military service.
