Project Update: Flora pins revealed!

I'm calling it early on the poll because YES to revealing the Flora pins was winning by a landslide.
Go check out the Stretch Goals to see the second series of pins, featuring Night Blooming Jasmine, Tuberose, and Angel's Trumpet!

Project Update: Nocturnal Nouveau is funded!!

Wow!! I cannot thank everyone enough for your incredible early support, we're already funded and the first three pins will be a reality!

Now it's on to the first stretch goal—funding the second series of pins, Flora.
I've heard from a few people requesting to see the Flora designs before they're unlocked...and I don't know what to do so let's have a poll. XD

Thank you again for your support, and be to share this campaign with your friends and anyone you know who loves pins, art nouveau, and mysterious wildlife. <3

Project Update: Flora pins unlocked, new stretch goals, and Early Bird discounts

Wow, we're only on the second day of funding and there is SO MUCH to update on already!

First, the Flora pins were unlocked earlier this morning! If you've been holding off on committing to the full collection, now's your chance to upgrade your pledge while the Early Bird Discounts are still available.

Second, we've got a new Backer's Choice stretch goal that unlocks when we hit $8,500: all backers will get to vote on whether to add an alternate colorway or a glitter finish option to the collection!

Third, all of the upcoming stretch goals have been revealed, so you can now see the designs of the Stellae accent pins. These will be available as Add-ons when they're unlocked, and if we reach $18k they'll be included for FREE with the 6-pin Tiers, another good reason to pledge for the full collection now, while the Early Bird discount is available!

I've got a few more surprise additions to the campaign that I'll reveal very soon (as soon as I take some product photos!) and in the meantime I hope you'll keep sharing the campaign and your feedback—I'd love to hear any and all of your ideas for new additions to the collection (Like maybe do you have a favorite nocturnal animal or flower that you'd like to see as a pin?)

And thank you so much for supporting my artwork and this campaign, it literally could not happen without you!

<3 Carrie

Once we reach this goal we'll unlock a poll for all Backers to vote on a new addition to the pin collection—an optional additional colorway or glitter finish!
Goal: $8,309 / $8,500
97%
We need $191 more to reach this goal.

Project Update: Stretch Goal #2 is Unlocked! Two more goals added!

I guess we are just going to keep motoring through these. So be it.

We've opened up the next two stretch goals for you to unlock.

Stretch goal #3 is for a deluxe 100pp keepsake game journal for recording your vampire's thoughts and musings in. We're still working out a few of the specs, but it will be quite nice. If you unlock this goal ($21,500), we'll add the journal as an add-on after the campaign in Backerkit.

Stretch goal #4 (at $23,500) will unlock a free 10 track soundscape by Dr. Mark Cox, Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at Central Michigan University. Dr. Cox has given us a short description of the soundscape and his motivations for creating it, which you can read below:

As a longtime enthusiast of the Sci-Fi and Fantasy genre, when I was asked to create the soundscapes for the game Five Hundred Year Old Vampire, there was only one answer from me – “YES.” As I became familiar with the history, rules, and general layout of the game, I started forming ideas. Having played a ton of video games in my life, starting with Pong back in 1972, I took my knowledge as a gamer and applied it as I mapped out each soundscape. My first priority was creating music that had an appealing sound, but nothing that would distract too much from the game. I also wanted to include sounds from around where I live, so I recorded the sounds of my tires as my family and I drove across the Mackinaw bridge, used different percussion equipment that I have access to at my work, and asked my wife, a professional keyboardist, to improvise sounds on the organ and piano. After I finished recording her, I asked her permission to distort and/or contort these performances to fit what I had conceived.

Next came the hard part. I felt like I had to consider what it would be like to lose my memories, my humanity --- how would the music relate that to the players? As you listen, you should hear some familiar melodies along with new ones, superimposed over an eerie, but not too scary, background. But as the vampire loses their memories, things begin to go awry. Different keys are stacked upon each other, melodies don’t quite line up, rhythms and melodies start to fall apart, then come back together as the vampire tries to hold on to these last memories.

To keep the audio files from being too large, I created basically a 10-20 minute loop. Once the music starts, the “loop” button on the device should be on so that the music runs continuously. Yes, there is silence in between some of sections, which I found to be very common in modern-day games (which I play regularly – when work and family are not taking up my time). And feel free to end one soundscape and start another one in the middle of the game. Anything is “fair-play.”

You can listen to a sample of one of the tracks here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaB9m2eA9XU

Good luck, folks. We'll check back in and see what you have done in the morning.

Project Update: First Stretch Goal Claimed!

We're just going to keep motoring forward, aren't we?

Alright then, the first stretch goal is down. We're adding the Prime Vampire Deck to the game. Don't worry though; there might be another opportunity to expand that deck coming soon.

But first, stretch goal #2!

One feature we have in the game is six sets of pregen characters, with each set of five (5) characters and one (1) prime vampire themed around a particular area of the world. These pregens are handy for getting a game of FYOV started fast (so ideal for classroom use, but also for one shots or convention play). We're still in the process of designing the sheets, which will be included in the game as a tearaway pad, but one thing we really want to include on them is a character portrait for each of the pregens.

For stretch goal #2, we'll add the first set of pregen character portraits to the game. We have a great stable of artists lined up to complete the portraits: Samuel Araya, Priscilla Kim, Goñi Montes, Allen Panakal, and the game's primary artist, Jabari Weathers. The region of the world for this tranche of portraits will be Africa. Below you can see Jabari's portraits (also found on the main campaign page).

The target for stretch goal #2 is $18,500. Let's add some kick ass art to the game.

Project Update: We've Done it!

Thank you everybody who pledged to Five Hundred Year Old Vampire (FYOV) on the first day. As of about 25 minutes ago, we surpassed our initial funding goal. That was zero to fully funded in less than 9 hours! Thank you so much for your support!

So now it's stretch goal time, it seems. First up is a little something we're calling the Prime Vampire Deck (we might muck with the name still). This small deck of cards will contain a set of ancient and inhuman dark lords designed by Tim Hutchings, creator of Thousand Year Old Vampire (TYOV), the award-winning solo RPG that FYOV is based on. These elder evils will work as alternative prime vampires for a game of FYOV, but they will also be compatible with playthroughs of TYOV as well.

If we reach $16,000, we'll start the Prime Vampire Deck off with seven (7) prime vampires.

Let's get it done, folks!
